Ok, so what's better than a Cocktail party? A cocktail party followed by a mega LAN in which
DRNuK wins every game! :O
What's the excuse? Two-fold!
Firstly, it's a long weekend while my parents are still away.
Secondly, and far less importantly Lambeaux will be returned to us.
Thirdly, and awesomely, Ivan is moving out on the 17th.
So, the proposition at this time is that we have a "BYO bottle of something cocktailable (definitely a real word, crunts)" cocktail party on Friday night (What time? - Anytime after 7pm. Cocktails from 8). You all piss off home sometime in the early hours of the morning, have some sleep and recovery. Come back Saturday afternoon with your boxes and set up for some elitoidsness through to Monday (Queen's Birthday, all hail!).
Put your name in this table, and include your vote, of the options "Yes" and "Definitely".
Assuming about $1.50 per standard drink please update the table to estimate what value you will drink that night! (of the communal cocktails only) - this value can be used to better determine what bottle you bring/purchase a share in.
Ok, here's the list. This is what people ought to be bringing. The ones that just have cash values written down will be contributing cash to go towards the excess of $100 that Ivan has spent on mixers/nibbles/etc.
The ones with '...' are expected to be 'going in' with the person above them to purchase a grander bottle between them than either could individually be expected to purchase (these are usually couples).

As you know, different bottles cost different monies. Perhaps we should be collecting like $20 /head or something and then we can go out and buy. Makes things a little fairer thats all

Different people drink different quantities. I was kinda counting on the varying prices of the bottles to make things actually fair on everyone. It is also envisaged that some people will go in with others towards a bottle, rather than absorb the whole cost themselves. It all depends on the person. Some people (i.e. me, most likely) will drink enough to warrant paying for a whole bottle of top shelf.

I don't think that it will work that well. You'll get cheap people who bring something cheap and drink heaps.
I reckon it might be better to collect money like Danger said and do a run to the bottle-o. Also you don't want to make too many different cocktails because you need to many different spirits. I reckon we pick 5 that are easy to make and just make bucketloads of them.

What about all the people who rock up late? I'm not gonna be able to collect money from people before the date, and noone's gonna wanna wait for the last person to turn up before we go and buy the grog, and I'd rather not be doing it out of pocket, too risky. It's a conundrum.

I think it we just make it very clear to everyone that they are expected to bring a bottle of X, and organise with them beforehand what X is to make sure it's fair on them. If they don't want to join in the cocktails, they can just bring the drink of their choice.

We definitely do need to decide on 5 cocktails that we will make, and fast. So we can distribute the requirements quicksticks. Only 8 days left.

You might like to outline the stuff that we need to be looking for. Ive told my brother to bring home some coctail glasses if they have any to give away at his work. quantity unknown.

Well, cocktail glasses are important. Those disposable shot glasses will be rather necessary for the shooter ones.
